Training and Behavioral Problems

Getting a new pet is an exciting time for the family as well as the pet. Successfully integrating the dog into your home can often be a challenge, if you don't know what you are doing. Dogs are pack animals by instinct and require a pack leader. They look to you to demonstrate that you are the leader. Failure to do so can lead to problems. Training will accomplish this in a kind, patient, understanding and positive way. It will also affect your dogs' temperament for the better.

The general rule is to give approval with praise and disapproval with corrections. No hitting or yelling is required or recommended. Positive re-enforcement is the key to any successful training. You want your dog to trust you. Temper tantrums on your part will not accomplish this.

Your dog will not only enjoy the outing but it will enable you to socialize the dog with other pets and people.
