How Can You Help?
 Have some extra time and want to help animals in need? HALO has several volunteer opportunities available.
Volunteer Qualifications: Individuals must be reliable, have a basic understanding of HALO's mission and goals, be flexible and have a great love and compassion for our furry friends.
- Fostering dogs: Fostering dogs involves taking the animal(s) home with you between scheduled adoption times. Additionally, it involves caring for the animals as if they were your own and most of all, loving the animals in a home setting. A very high level of commitment is needed.
- Assisting at adoption center: We have adoptions every Saturday and Sunday at the PetSmart at 7th Ave and Bell Road location. Assistance is needed with caring for the animals, talking with prospective adopters to evaluate their suitability, cleaning cages, walking dogs, etc.
- Cat Maintenance at our PetSmart locations: We have cats and kittens housed in adoption centers at seven different PetSmart locations and a Petco that need care twice daily. Assistance is needed with caring for the cats, cleaning cages and giving them love and attention. A commitment of 1-2 hours per week on the same day is needed.
- Assisting at our Thrift Boutique: Our Thrift Boutique is located at 4630 N. Seventh Avenue, four blocks south of Camelback Road on Seventh Avenue in Phoenix. Volunteers needed to work 4- to 8-hour shifts once per week. Household items, furniture and clothing donations being accepted. It is vitally important that each volunteer realize that his or her part is critical to the success of our rescue work. No matter how small or significant you feel your role might be, we would love to have you on board. We ask that once you have agreed to an assignment, that you fulfill your commitment to the best of your ability.
